A daisy that grows to only about 1 foot (30 cm.) in height at most. It grows in the rocky soil that is found along the coastlines of California and Oregon. This plant is a perennial, which means that it grows back from root-stock each year, rather than from seeding.

The Erigeron glaucus plant can have several stems. This shot shows how the plant retains dead leaves as it grows.

The top of the plant shows its wide leaves. They grow from the center, flare out wide, the fall back underneath and die.

The leaves are concave and slightly pointed. There are no thorns. The surface of the leaves felt smooth.

There was one flower per stem with the flower growing from the tip of the stem. Here were three flowers just beginning to form.

The fully formed flower had horizontal petals just like the classic daisy. Note that the stem continued to grow under the flower, elevating it for better exposure to insects.
