![]() The "Rideout" comes from the Rideout family, that paid for the fountain. It lay in the center of a grove of trees on the path between The De Young Museum and the California Academy Of Sciences. Out of the frame to the left was the Bandstand.

![]() The statue in the center of the fountain was created by Melvin Earl Cummings. The budget didn't allow for bronze so the statue was made of stone. It featured a Puma fighting a large snake.
