Alvord Lake, Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, California
|
Lush Foliage
Mature trees and lush foliage surrounded the small lake. There were no signs identifying this lake, nor was its name on the many maps that appeared throughout the park.

A Tunnel
Folks entered a tunnel on the other side of the lake. That tunnel led to the rest of Golden Gate Park.

Shallow
The lake was shallow and the water clear. That afternoon, no fish were visible, but a lone rock rose from the bed.

Not A Tunnel
The tunnel on the other side of the lake was not really a tunnel. Technically, it was called Alvord Bridge and supported the roadway atop it. The tunnel was the void below the bridge.

Flowers
The lake with a lawn beyond, was decorated with purple flowers. Beyond the lawn was the eastern entrance to Golden Gate Park. In the distance, a dog stood on the lawn and waited for its human friend to join it.
