At the top of the garden was a sign describing its history, and a small map. The sign read in part:

Zoro Garden

Zoro Garden is a Butterfly Garden, but has a colorful history that includes a 1935 nudist colony. The garden was named after Queen Zorine, the lead actress in a pageant that was located in this sunken garden during the 1935 California-Pacific Exposition.

Curved ramps led down into the garden in a wheelchair friendly manner. This was a well shaded sunken garden.

Mature trees bordered this garden, which lent it a comfortable enclosed feeling.

This garden is easily accessed from the main mall with its museums and shops. From inside the view up and out was dramatic.

At the bottom of the garden were places to sit and relax. Here was an unusual bench cut from the trunk of a former tree.

At the top of the garden where it led up to the road was a sign showing the butterflies that would appear there in spring.

A sign advised how not to treat the butterflies. It read:

DO NOT TOUCH
Caterpillars, cocoons, butterflies
