A garden chair with its arm rests continuing down to form the front legs formed the suggestion of a letter R.

The bike racks at the Caltrain Station in San Francisco used to lay along King street and were formed out of thick metal tubing that was bent. A bike lock hanging off of one of these curves formed the diagonal leg of the letter R.

Cyclone fence
(3 of 5) (8878 views)

A cyclone fence covered half the opening in a pedestrian fence over highway 101. The half closure was one of three to form a simple maze to encourage bikes to be walked. But bikes were ridden anyway and years of riders grabbing the cyclone fence for stability finally broke the diamond cyclone pattern open. The result was randomly bent wires, one part of which, with proper framing, resembled the letter R.

Fallen twigs

A closeup of fallen twigs resembled the letter D. But after that shot was taken, the photographer stood and discovered that third twig which formed the diagonal leg of the more rare letter R.

Automotive hold-down strap

An old Automotive hold-down strap had been tossed or fallen onto a grate near the edge of the sidewalk. The way it had fallen, when viewed with the edge of the grate as part of the letter, created a reasonable approximation of the letter R.
