Trash Found, During A Jones Valley Houseboat Rental

A Blue Bud Light And Plastic Strip
As the level of Shasta Lake fell, it exposed previous lake bottom. Here was a bottle of Bud Light carelessly tossed overboard. Around it lay a thin strip of plastic.

A Pillow On New Growth
A pillow was found on new growth where the bottom of Shasta Lake used to be. Here was a pillow keeping company with a rusted can and a plastic baggy that still contained food.

Blue Speaker Wire
A coil of blue speaker wire lay on what used be Shasta Lake bottom. Clearly someone made a mistake while hooking up speakers on a rented houseboat.

Blue Bottle Bottom
The bottom of a blue bottle that had become buried in the sandy bottom of what used to be Shasta Lake.

Campsite 3 Mountain Dew
Up in the forest surrounding Shasta Lake we found an empty campsite with a bottle of Mountain Dew still partly full sitting on a concrete picnic table.

Blue Foam With Yellow Tip
On the forest floor just adjacent to where the lake used to be, we found a foam tube on pine needles. That bit of foam had a yellow tip.

Toothbrush On Camp Table
The last thing someone did while camping in Shasta-Trinity National Forest was to brush his or her teeth. The last thing packed was something other than that toothbrush.

Mud Encrusted Broom
Someone was sweeping mud off the deck of their houseboat when the head of the broom came off and ended up on the lake bottom. When the lake level fell it exposed this once careless accident.

Tin Can By Rock
A tin can tossed overboard came to rest next to a rock on the bottom of Shasta Lake. The level of Shasta Lake fell as winter approached, leaving this scene behind.
