Inside the forest was an interplay of light and shadows creating a dappled look to the forest and its floor.

A campsite inside the forest featured a concrete picnic table and a fire pit. This particular campsite was a walk-in camp, not a drive in one.

Forest Surrounded Shasta Lake

The forest surrounded Shasta Lake. Unfortunately, late in the season, the level of the lake was down, and access to it required a long hike downhill and back up.

Forest Opened Into A Meadow
(7 of 7) (5487 views)

./Shasta_Lake_20130918_105336_B13_7467.jpg

Here the forest opened into a meadow. This effect was only evident because the level of the lake was so low. A full lake would have changed this meadow into deep water.
