The Art Building
The Art Building faced the State Capital. Its hansom brick front and window frames were elegantly counter pointed by the even coating of fall leaves coving the lawn and path.

Star Trees
The Star Trees of Willamette University (Sequoiadendron giganteum) were giant Sequoias. A nearby sign read: This grove of giant Sequoias was planted by students of the Class of 1942 in honor of Willamette University's 100th anniversary. Founded by Jason Lee in 1842, Willamette University is recognized as the oldest university in the west. In 1997, the campus started an annual holiday tradition by lighting the Star Trees from mid-December to January. They are now consider to be the tallest Christmas trees on a college campus in America.

Squirrel On A Bench
Two squirrels were out that afternoon. One was exploring for food in the quad. The other was working to open a seed while standing on the arm of a white lawn chair.

The York House was a student residence named after Emily J. York, who in 1859 was the first graduate of Willamette University. She received the degree of Mistress of English Literature.
