The Nye Beach area of Newport, Oregon was arty and picturesque. Here was a view out NW Beach Drive looking inland at the cliffs. There were festive banners hung on either side of the street. One said, "Hugs are Free," and the second said, "The End is Nye." Lower on poles were two "Do Not Enter," signs.

One of several maps laid out around town provided a guide to walking. Because the ocean was easy to see, the "You Are Here" dot made it easy to determine where you stood and which path was the best to take.

The Sylvia Beach Hotel was located on NW Cliff Street and billed itself as "truly a hotel for book lovers." In this shot, the view was looking out NW 3rd Street with its limited parking.
