Skagway could be seen in the distance as the forest lining the tracks suddenly cleared. It was a foggy, misty day so the view was not as sharp as it could have been.

We passed through some very dense forests on the way up to the summit and Canada. Here was just a glimpse of a river through the woods.

The weather cleared as we reached the summit (above the clouds). We passed over the third, and final, river surrounded by less dense forest.

River Valley

A river ran through a forested valley. Hills covered with trees rose on either side of the river. Those hills became high mountains, which became bare rock near their summits.

No trip through an Alaska forest would be complete without at least one shot of a logging road. This road appeared to meet the tracks, but actually turned to parallel them.
