Costa Rica Tires, Discarded As Trash
|
The tire evolved into a fender
A fender is a flexible or soft object placed between the boat and a dock to protect both from damage by the other. In more consumptive societies, fenders are custom made and hung off the approaching boat. In more frugal societies, a fender may be made from a recycled tire.

Cattle Loading Ramp
Next to the souvenir stores by the Tárcoles River was an old ranch. A wooden ramp was arranged so that cattle or sheep could be transferred from the land to a truck. A tire was buried so that a backing truck would not damage the wooden ramp.

Slowly Mashed Flat
A tire had been discarded along side the road. Over time, buses and cars and trucks have slowly mashed this tire flat. The hay was from a nearby ranch.
