The gumball machine outside the It's Sugar candy store appeared to be cracked but that was just reflections caused by plastic and glass.

Gumballs In A Large Gumball Machine
A large cylindrical gumball machine stood outside a candy store at Pier 39 in San Francisco. These were full sized gumballs that just looked small because the container was so large.

Gumball Flood Held Back
Crane appeared to struggle to hold back a flood of gumballs. In actuality, the crane was operated by cranks outside this booth, and for a quarter the child could try to scoop up as many gumballs as possible.
