One foot
One of this sculpture's three feet was made up of a tube anchored in the ground. Its I-beam leg slipped over that tube and was welded in place. That I-beam leg continued downward and left in this shot.

I-Beams And Steel
Mark di Suvero worked for years in heavy construction. After an injury he began to work in art. Early works were welded from found materials. Later works, such as this one, were cut from thick steel and bolted to I-Beams.

Interplay of shadow
The central core of this sculpture illustrated a gentle interplay of sun and shadow. Surprising for such a massive material.

Rough Edge
Detail shot of one of the roughly cut edges of thick steel. This is the look of steel cut by a torch.

Missing Bolt
When planning a large sculpture, one sometimes can make mistakes. Here a hole was cut that was not needed as part of the final assembly.

In Context
Here the sculpture could be seen in context with the buildings surrounding it. The classic Spanish architecture behind formed a delicate background to its sharply angular foreground.
