A bus load of tourists on one of the original cars that used to be part of the train from San Jose to Puntarenas. We had just loaded at a grade crossing and the train was about to start. Our tour guide stood in the aisle and never stopped talking.

The inside of the rail cars were covered in wood. Here was the ceiling of one of the two passenger cars.

The light fixtures were small and attached to wooden cross pieces. They did not light, even when we went through a long tunnel.

The train stopped partway through the trip to allow the tourists a chance to view and photograph a troop of howler monkeys.

A man walked through the car selling sodas in plastic bottles. Notice that the plastic bottles were in a plastic tub.

A crank on the wall of the stairs that led into and out of the train. The crank offered no clue as to its purpose.

To walk from one passenger car to the next required stepping over the coupler.
