As usual, traffic was backed up on the highway during the afternoon commute hours.

The exit to Sausalito was just after the Golden Gate Bridge. On this late morning, no cars were exiting. At least for a brief while.

At the south end of Sausalito, just north of of the Golden Gate Bridge, was an on-ramp to Highway 101 northbound.

Highway 101 south out of Marin County ended at the Golden Gate Bridge. The speed limit fell from 65 to 45 mph, and the number of lanes dropped from four to three. Like on this day, the sunshine just a mile north back up the road vanished into the fog of San Francisco.

The Alexander Avenue offramp included information about how to return back south on 101 to San Francisco. At the bottom of this offramp one was faced with the choice of bearing right into Sausalito, or a stop sign and a left turn to return to the City.

The busy intersection where the Alexander Avenue offramp met Alexander Avenue provided huge signs for cars, but tiny signs for bus riders, and no signs for bicyclists.
