To the left was wetlands as a part of flood control. To the right was a small forest. In the distance was the town of Salem, Oregon. The path itself was paved and shaded by the forest.

Bicycles
Many bicycles used the path. Most were friendly and polite when passing a pedestrian. From behind many would yell, "On your left!" A few would just rudely pass in silence. A few used polite bells.

Shaded Path
A long stretch of the path was shaded. A welcome relief on a day that would hit the mid 90's that afternoon.

Black Lagoon
A black lagoon lay just off the path. Lacking only a man in an ill-fitting costume this lagoon could become a B-grade movie location.
