Sounder / Key
An old telegraph sounder and key set was for sale for US $47.00. In the old days, the key was used to close an electric circuit so that pulsed codes could be sent to a distant receiver. At the receiver's end, another sounder would clack each time the circuit was closed. Closely spaced clacks were the dits, and widely spaced clacks were dahs of Morse Code.
