The combined porpoise and sign was located on the dirt off to the San Francisco side of the Mersea Restaurant.

The tail of the porpoise sculpture was painted in bright colors that have faded over time.

The sign identified the restaurant behind it as the Mersea Restaurant. Above the word "Mersea" three flowers were drawn.

The hump on the back of the porpoise sculpture was decorated with tadpole shapes. Wear on the sculpture was from years of children sitting and playing on the sculpture.
