The clock was mounted on a building that offered information, tours, and gifts. That building was in the middle of the square, directly opposite the water tower.

The entire square was laid out like a mid-1800s garden. Roses and other flowers were everywhere. All the bushes and trees were neatly pruned and smartly sculpted.

The view looking back towards downtown Oxnard. 7th Street crossed the path at the end of the square. Beyond that a pedestrian path continued until it met 5th Street two blocks distant.

Built 1877, this water tower was originally located on the Pfeiler Ranch property. Only the vertical slats of the 3,000 gallon tank were part of the original structure. It now stands in the center of Heritage Square.

A gardener's shed was created in a style to match the look of the entire square.

The Main Plaza near the center of the square was surrounded by four imposing old buildings. To the right was the Laurent/McGrath House, and to the left was Heritage Square Hall.

Parking lots wrapped around the 8th Street end of Heritage Square. Because the square was surrounded on three sides with diagonal street parking, and because internal parking consumed at least a quarter of the square, there was parking for over 100 cars.
