One Of The Drainage Basins
One of the water saving basins. Without these basins to reuse the water in the locks, the water from Gatun Lake would slowly drain into Miraflores Lake.

In the foreground were the gears and motor that opens and shuts the lock gate. In the background was a target used to train people to accurately toss weighted leads.

A ladder inside the lock was set back into the concrete wall. One rung was bent as it it had at one time been struck by a ship.
