In the winter of 2008, the carousel had been torn apart for a major refurbishing. Here was a sign describing the process and one of the carousel rides resting just inside the fence.

Metal Pyramid

Part of the core of the carousel being refurbished was a four sided metal pyramid that rigidly held up a massive center metal support painted bright red. Bits and pieces of the carousel could be seen scattered around the base.
