The parade was scheduled to start at noon, so folks began to arrive early. Some were in full costume, others in only light costume and yet others with just a hint of costume.

A fine store bought hat with a store bought pair of glasses with moustache and nose attached.

The man carried a mock-Frank-Chu sign. The woman carried a sign the read, "Left Turn."

He blew a toy plastic horn to celebrate the moment. His actual sign read, "I Can't Afford An Actual Sign."

A passer-by asked, "Why is everyone dressed up so funny?" But the man in the hat was too busy texting to answer.

One fellow wore a cardboard box as an undershirt. Notice the matching flower in his hat.

The parade was supposed to begin at noon but first there were announcements, followed by a group photo opportunity. The parade itself did not actually get underway until about quarter after the hour.

The parade was led by Ed Holmes (aka Bishop Joey) who here played a small base drum with a bone.

The parade left Justin Herman Plaza and proceeded down the sidewalk from the foot of Market Street toward Spear Street.

One fellow, lightly dusted with paint, wore a birthday cake hat. He was otherwise nude, and carried his clothes in a Macy's bag.

The first stop for the parade was inside the atrium for the Federal Reserve Bank on Market Street between Spear and Main Streets. There the parade paused and was given a lesson about the stupid uses of money.

Several parents brought young children to the parade. All the kids seen that day were costumed and appeared to very much enjoy the event.

The parade crossed Market Street at Main Street and proceeded toward California Street at Davis Street. Note the man at the right who toasted the parade with a camera outside Pete's coffee.

The man with a clown nose was so impressed by the plain, un-costumed look of another man, that he had to snap his image.

The parade paused at the red light. Viewed here was only about a third of the parade. The rest had not caught up yet. Notice how the businessman made a wide detour around the parade.

One woman woman wore a lamp shade, the spangles of which matched the spangles in her sweater.

The parade next paused amid the step-like planters in the plaza at California and Davis Streets. Here, Ed Holmes spoke of running for office.

The parade continued to Front Street, then down toward Market Street. Here it crossed Pine Street. Notice Frank Chu trailing at the right.

The Doggie Diner dog heads waited at the corner of Market and Bush Streets for the parade to arrive. They slowly filled the seating in front of the statue honoring Labor, called the Mechanics Monument .

Rhythmic noise drew the parade to assemble. Ed Holmes (aka Bishop Joey) wore a hard hat for safety. Notice the Saint Stupid logo on the drums and t-shirt.

At one point the loyalty of the crowd was questioned and these two stout fellows responded with a pose of support.

One fellow wore a cartoon on his back. The cartoon read, "I'm with Stupid," printed on the earth, and "Mankind," printed on the man .

She blew bubbles from between two large Doggie Diner heads.

He carried a sign that recommended Zippy the Pinhead for president.

The Mechanics Monument, by Douglas Tilden , turned out to be a fun place to climb and to just plain hang out.

The parade achieved its dramatic destination in the sunken One Bush Plaza .

In small groups the stragglers dribbled down the ramps and stairs to join the final group. It was sunny and warm so some wore hats while others carried umbrellas.

The parade ended in the plaza behind E-Trade. A lunchtime crowd lined the surrounding railing to ogle the gathering.
