2011, Sausalito Art Festival

![]() The annual tent set up to shade the folks gathered to listen to great bands play. At the start of the festival it was deserted. By mid afternoon it will become so crowded there will be no seating available.

![]() A truck was parked near the pink tent with a huge advertisment on its side for Kahlua Rum and Coffee Liqueur. Anyone over 21 could take a survey and receive a free sample, a nice bag like those shown here, and a portable coffee cup with the word Kahlua on its side.

![]() The early morning had been chilly and overcast with ocean fog. At 11:30 the fog began to burn off. Part of the crowd was still dressed for the cold, while another part of the crowd had begun to shed clothes anticipating a warm afternoon.

![]() The Sausalito Art Festival is well know for its wide range of libations. In addition to bottled water and sodas, champagne, mamosas, wine, and mixed coctails were also available. This aisle of art happened to be located adjacent to the champagne booth.

![]() The festival had no shortage of places to sit and rest or to sit and snack. Here was a low wall that bordered the children's play area. Beyond it could be seen tables with umbrellas. Although the trash was divided into "trash" and "recycling", there were no composting containers avaliable.

![]() The food stalls bordered the marina. Behind them was Richardson Bay, while in front were crowds of hungy people. Shortly after noon, the crowds had formed into long lines awaiting the opportunity to purchase crab cakes, or pulled pork sandwiches, or fish and chips, or ice cream, or hamburgers, or veggiburgers, or turkey legs, or cookies.

![]() The Sumati Colpitts booth featured ceramic animals, both realistic and fictional. From Sedona, Arizona, she has been making clay sculptures for indoor and outdoor, animals, masks, asian figures, and buddhas for over twenty years.

![]() By early afternoon the sun had come out fully. Just a light breeze remained as it turned into a warm afternoon. The lingering fog could just be seen peeking over distant hills. Large sculptures like this one, littered the grounds.

![]() The booth of David Gallegos featured Mixed Media art. David Gallegos was born in 1954 in Denver, Colorado and his art carreer began in 1974.

![]() Over in the children's play area by the entrance to the Bay Model was a small theater upon the stage of which a magician performed to entertain children.

![]() The wharf was another place to sit an eat. It was cooler because of a sea breeze, yet crowded (as had become the entire festival). The Blue & Gold ferry provided a direct route between Pier 41 in San Francisco and the Sausalito Art Festival.
