The first view of the Garlic Festival was from a low rise. The balloon (like a map pin) marked the center of the fair. The people in the foreground represented just one of seven shuttle bus loads of people from the Caltrain "Garlic Train."

The road leading in, passed a lovely offshoot of the river. The water was glass still that morning.

A sign in the center of the road made no sense to those walking in. Having not yet seen a map of the grounds, we had no idea the fair was split in two.

The ticket booth was set up just to the left of an ATM. Entry required cash. For those on the "Garlic Train" entry was included with the train ride ticket.

The gates were numbered. We on the "Garlic Train" were told to return to the shuttle buses via gate 3.

First viewed inside the fair, a flaming garlic said, "Dollars raised for local charities since 1979, $11,227,280, The Gilroy Garlic Festival thanks you."
