The Heart Next Morning
The heart at 222 2nd Street, San Francisco as it appeared the next morning. The business at 222 2nd Street was closed so only this, the back of the heart, was visible.

Closer View
A closer view of the "Still Beating" heart so that one can examine the tile work. Notice that some tiles appear to be missing. It was not clear if this was intentional.

Heart Lobe
A closer view of the tiles around one lobe of the heart. Notice how they create concentric curves around that lobe, and how the tile colors appear to fade as they become further from the lobe.

The Sign
The sign that identified the heart faced the inside of the building and so faced away from us in this shot.

How Many Tiles
The man who owned a large shop, allowed the artist to create this heart there. The shop owner told me that the artist brought in several heavy boxes of tiles. Part way through creating the heart, the artist discovered he had underestimated. He had only brought in enough tiles for a third of the heart, so had to run out to get more tiles.
