A mural decorated the street across from the Taller Artistico Xuchialt school. It had been drawn under sponsorship of Project Gettysburg León.

The guide (right) for that trip described the mural to Nicole Hartwig (left) and Grazyna Szawlowski (center). The mural described León over time, with Chief Adiact to the left, all the way to computers at the far right (beyond this photograph).

Chief Adiact, leader of the Subtiava tribe, was shown posed in front of the tree from which the Spanish had later hanged him.

A dramatic sun was shining over a boy flying a kite. The string of the kite were words describing the theme of the mural.

Elements of the festive parades that are held in Nicaragua. From music and dance through religious elements such as Christ's star on a stick.

Myths from Nicaragua's archaeological past were depicted. As here, with a man being rescued from an urn.

The solid blue border below the mural was interrupted twice. Once by the bicycle shown here, and further to the right by a person walking (not shown in this photograph).

Modern day smart phones, USB memory sticks, email, and texting were illustrated here.

A computer screen was depicted which displayed sign language and thereby indicated that computers make the world more accessible, even to the hearing impaired.

Another theme was the cycle of water as it moved from the sea, to the air, to plants and back again.
