Juan Marichal, In Bronze 2005
|
High Kick Illustrated
Juan Marichal was a pitcher best known for the style of his pitch. He would kick so high as part of his windup that he could hide then nature of his pitch from the batter until the actual pitch was thrown. Here, his stature was located on 4th Street just outside the O'Doul Gate into the ballpark.

Pitching Into A Massive Bridge
Here, from behind, was Juan Marichal pitching into a massive bridge. The massive concrete counter weights allow this "Lefty O'Doul Bridge" to be opened to allow boats to pass underneath.

Close-Up Of The Baseball
The baseball was clutched in Juan Marichal's hand, ready for him to conclude his windup and throw. Alas, this statue will never compete that windup and this ball will never be thrown.
