The mosaic decorated the wall at the front of an office building on 4th Street in Sacramento, California. Viewed from the sidewalk it appeared random.

The artist's signature was on a white tile in the lower right of the mosaic. It read, "© P VandenBerge 79/80."

Overlapping Arches
Two arches in the mural overlapped each other. They were constructed using a mixture of rectangular and curved tiles.

A Fish
A fish swam in abstract near the upper left of the mosaic. The fish had an oversized yellow nose.

A Curl And Red Dot
One of the tiles in the mosaic contained a dark curl design with a red dot near its base. That red dot echoed the splash of red in the neighbor tile to its right.

Pale Pink
One of the tiles contained the palest of pink washes. That tile was surround by richly colored tiles.

Bright Yellow
At the left edge of the mosaic, in a shape reminiscent of Nevada, was a tile colored bright yellow with an orange corner, and with bits of orange invading the yellow.

Black And Blue
A black tile floated over a sea blue tile. The illusion was that of a stealth ship cruising the vast Pacific Ocean.

Easter Egg
The 4th Street Mosaic contained an Easter Egg. In this instance, the Easter Egg was literally an Easter Egg shape in orange and blue located near the base of the mosaic and just above the sidewalk.
