Stairs led up from Justin Herman
This elevated park can be accessed using stairs from the park behind Justin Herman Plaza. You'll need to explore because the presence of an elevated park is not obvious from below. A path bordered the park
A paved path bordered the east and west ends of the park. Notice the circular seating around a tree at the far end. Also notice the anti-skateboard tabs on the right. At the northeast corner, a different angle view of the circular seating around a tree. Notice that this corner is shaded by surrounding high-rise buildings. The bridge over Washington Street
A level bridge connected the park to apartments on the other side of Washington Street. Note that if you walked through the apartment complex you would arrive at Sidney Walton Park on the far side. A fountain in front of Maritime Plaza
The fountain is dry on weekends and during droughts. It forms part of the east plaza in front of the central high-rise. Bronze horse, 1967
In its own alcove, the sculpture was surrounded by steps. A relaxed area for a lunch break. Artist: Marino Marini • Five Embarcadero Center Park • Between Washington and Clay and Davis and Battery • San Francisco, California • (Photo posted Wednesday 17 March 2010) • (Photo taken 13:55:34 Sunday 7 March 2010) • © 2010 Bryan Costales #135534_2151BCX Add a comment or report a mistake

North side access to the other plaza
Access to the other plaza on the north side was underneath the Maritime Plaza Building. Dramatic, but not particularly pleasant. The western plaza could be seen
The northern area underneath the Maritime Plaza Building was perhaps only useful for protection from rain. The northern plaza had lawn
The northern plaza had a nice expanse of lawn in its center. Notice that the entry to the Punch Line Comedy Club was just across the lawn. The northwest seating around a tree
In the northwest corner was another seating area around a tree. This corner, unlike the others, was in sunlight. The center building was named Maritime Plaza
A high-rise building rose up through the center of the park. Even though the park was on the third floor, it appeared from that standpoint to be at ground level. The park was atop parking
The view of the park as seen from street level at the corner of Battery and Washington. Note how the greenery atop the parking does not look as if it is a park.
